We change the whole floor twice a year. In winter it's skis, boards and a tuning bench. In summer it's a bike wall and a shuttle van pointed at the top of Vail Pass.

Three trips down Vail Pass. Pick your effort.
All three start with the same van ride to the summit. The difference is how far you keep going and how much of it you pedal.

Mostly coasting
Vail Pass summit down to Frisco on paved path. Stop at Copper for the chairlift or a picnic, then drop through Ten Mile Canyon past mountain lakes and an old mine.

Coasting and cruising
Trip 1 plus seven flat miles along Lake Dillon. Look through the telescope at the osprey nest, then stop at the Tiki Bar at the marina.

See all of Summit
Trips 1 and 2 plus six miles of low-grade climbing up the Snake River into Keystone. Our favourite section of path in the county, and it ends at our door.
One kid skis free for every adult on a Performance or Demo package
Three consecutive days or more, same dates as the adult, two kids per family, twelve and under. Book it online in advance — it can't be added at the counter.
- Lift tickets aren’t included
- Helmets are $12.50/day and not included
- Peak weeks excluded (26/27): Dec 15–Jan 5, Feb 13–16, Mar 6–22
Ride from the shop door
Gateway Plaza sits closer to the Summit County rec path, the singletrack and the gravel roads than any shop in Keystone. Fifty paved car-free miles link Keystone, Dillon, Frisco, Copper and Breckenridge.

Ski by nine

Twelve miles down. Gravity does most of it.
We drive you and a bike to the summit of Vail Pass at 9am or 11am. You coast down paved path through Ten Mile Canyon to Frisco, Dillon or all the way back to our door — your choice of three trips. We collect you at the end.
Forty years of first days
Booked from Sydney six months out and it was exactly what we reserved. Boots fitted in ten minutes and we were on the hill by nine.
Drove up from Denver on a whim, walked in at 7.50am, had skis by 8.10. First place you hit coming into Keystone and you can park right outside.
The shuttle was the best day of the whole holiday. They mapped the stops out for us and picked us up in Frisco exactly when they said.

The questions everyone asks
Can I pick my gear up the night before?
Yes, and we’d rather you did. Come in any time after 4pm the day before your first day and we won’t charge you for that evening. Before 4pm counts as a rental day.
How does Kids Rent Free actually work?
One junior ski rental is free for every adult who rents a Performance or Demo ski package for the same dates — three consecutive days minimum, two kids per family, twelve and under. Helmets aren’t included, and it must be booked online in advance. Peak weeks for 26/27 are Dec 15–Jan 5, Feb 13–16 and Mar 6–22.
What do I need to bring to pick up gear?
Your confirmation, the socks you’ll actually ski in, a credit card for the security imprint, and photo ID that matches the card. Prepaid gift cards can’t be used for the imprint.
What is your cancellation policy?
Every reservation is paid in full when you book — that is what locks in the online discount. Vail Pass shuttle seats are fully refunded if you cancel at least 48 hours before departure.
Will the altitude affect me?
Keystone is at 9,400 feet — about 66% of the oxygen you get at sea level. Drink more water than feels necessary, take the first day easy, and go lighter on the alcohol than you would at home.
Is there local transport to and from your store?
Yes, and both are free. The Keystone resort shuttle and the countywide Summit Stage both stop in front of the plaza on Highway 6. Leave the car with us all day.
Forty years at the entrance to Keystone
Mountain View Sports has rented ski, snowboard and bike gear out of Keystone, Colorado since 1983. We are three miles from the Mountain House base and River Run gondola, and an easy drive from Dillon, Silverthorne, Frisco, Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin — guests regularly pick up here and ski a different mountain each day on the same rental.
In winter we stock skis, snowboards, snowblades and snowshoes, plus waterproof jackets and pants, with every ski and board hand-tuned on a Montana Crystal Glide stone grinder each night it comes back. In summer the same building becomes a bike shop and the departure point for the Vail Pass bike shuttle — twelve to twenty-four miles of mostly downhill paved path through some of the best scenery in Colorado.
